Would like to if there's an active community in Malaysia specializing in Web Services technology be it from which faction; .NET or Java. I've recently gotten myself involved in WS technologies and up till now, my knowledge about this whole shebang is still very juvenile.

Our recent project used common standards like WS-Security and WS-Policy and I had a pretty hard time understanding and implementing it. No doubt there's a lot of resource you can find from MSDN and Google (MSN search if we’re talking about hardcore MS peeps) but we all know that clients always have their own irregular requirements, such that require customization that you don’t have any online reference to follow.

In my last implementation, I used VS2005 to implement a service layer to an existing web application. There were some limitations and we were close to implementing WCF (upgrading to .NET 3.5 and VS2008) but due to time constraints we had to work around with what we had.

Basically I just like to know how big the WS architect/developer/consultant community in Malaysia is. To my knowledge there’s just a handful of WS implementation and most of it are done in big corporations (i.e.: Banks and Government agencies maybe).

I have not been following the events that MIND organized but would like to see some WS related events.

Would appreciate if you all can just trash all your thoughts here…
